Saying on a shop shutter – Barcelona street art

Who is behind Art Is Trash?

This clip from 2026-07-12 shows a street piece by Art Is Trash, the project of Barcelona-based artist Francisco de Pájaro. Since 2009 he has turned rubbish left on the pavement – boxes, bags, mattresses, old furniture – into wild, comic figures painted on the spot. Most pieces last only a few hours – until the city's rubbish trucks come by. With humour and provocation he comments on consumerism, waste, politics and the art market.
